Into the Rabbit Hole: Unpacking the Unpredictable Episodes of Rick and Morty

Since the dawn of its creation, Rick and Morty has dominated the adult animation floor. Why is it though? For a show where nearly nothing changes, it seems to make up for it with sheer uniqueness. Rick and Morty revolves around a mad scientist (Rick) and his grandson (Morty), who go on adventures to space and different dimensions, sometimes even meeting and fighting themselves. Rick and Morty features numerous episodes in which something different happens every time. In the end though, many people like the show’s non “canon” episodes, where everything goes back to normal.

But what makes the show so unique? Well, the events that occur throughout the show speak for themselves. In one of the episodes, perhaps the most well known one, Rick turns himself into a pickle. That’s it. Just a pickle. He can look around and talk, and he finds himself in a bit of a predicament, in which he uses his mouth to create himself an exoskeleton to let him actually move. In another episode, Rick and his daughter Beth (Morty’s mom) explore a pocket dimension made by Rick for someone who Beth trapped there as a kid. It is super different from anything you might find from a show. I think that these two episodes are a pretty good representation of the entirety of Rick and Morty, as it brings out something you have truly never seen before.
